Are you curious about the greatest party necessities to pack for an electronic dance music festival?
EDM events are usually not like traditional concerts because of the production, atmosphere, and, of course, the prominent role of rave culture. I was incredibly unprepared and, in the nicest manner possible, overwhelmed by everything I witnessed at my first festival.

We have put up the ideal list of rave necessities after going to a ton of shows and done a ton of research to make sure you have the greatest first time ever!
1.) Water-Reserved Backpack
First item I usually recommend at a festival is a hydropack, also known as a hydration backpack. True sadness isn’t experienced until your favorite DJ is spinning and you’ve found the ideal location in the crowd—after which you realize you’re really thirsty and have to go purchase some absurdly expensive water bottle. You can stay hydrated for a considerable length of time wherever you go with a hydropack since it has an integrated pouch that can contain up to two liters of water! Using a hydropack also means you’ll never have to pay for water because most events feature free water stations! We suggest either the GenZ or Lunchbox bundles. These packs not only keep you hydrated, but they also have a ton of other incredible features like anti-theft protection—which, regrettably, can occasionally occur—that may safeguard your most expensive possessions.
2.) Pashmina
The festival robe of holy grail. What is there not to like about a pashmina? In addition to being a fantastic accessory, pashminas provide other advantages. Weather protection is among the greatest qualities that a pashmina can provide. It can serve as a temporary umbrella in the event of rain, a blanket in the suffocating cold, or a cover to shield your skin from the sun’s rays. They can also serve as a safety net in case you experience any form of overstimulation at a festival. One fantastic trick I found for this is to apply a few drops of lavender essential oil to the tips of your pashmina to make it more peaceful to wear!
3.) A fan
If the weekend weather forecast calls for bright sky, sunshine, and a temperature higher than 85 degrees, be ready to fight the enemy that every raver fears the most: heat.
Seriously though, daytime events may get very hot and raise your risk of becoming dehydrated and overheated. A hand fan is something that may be quite helpful in staying cool! Even though they appear little and delicate, the air stream they create is unlike anything I have ever encountered, especially when it’s really hot outside. Fanning folks as they pass in the throng is something I also enjoy doing and they usually find appreciative! It’s a terrific way to strike up a conversation and meet new people during festivals.
4.) Totem
In essence, a totem is any thing that aids in collective location. They may also be seen as works of art or as just objects made for human seeing. Signs, flags, plush toys, pool noodles, and much more can be included. To make their totem easier to locate in a crowd, many individuals also choose to drape lights around it.
A simple upended broom was one of the most bizarre totems I have ever seen, yet it worked! Larger groups benefit greatly from totems since, in the event that someone gets lost, they may quickly locate the group again upon seeing the totem! One of my favorite things about this town is the vibrant and imaginative totemic culture! Making a funny totem with your friends might be a fun way to get into the festival mood if you’re going in a group.
5.) Plugs for ears
Everything in life is lovely, and you’re dancing to the fullest with the bass and music pounding, yet your eardrums are left wondering, “What is going on? Will I blow up? Is this the last one? Though this may be a little over the top, safeguarding your ears is crucial and can save more significant problems like hearing loss in the future. Earplugs made with a unique blend of protection and sound quality are produced by companies such as Eargasm. Online retailers provide earplugs that may be worn as earrings if that’s more your style!
6.) A Surface for Sitting!
Some of the finest festival memories are created when you sit down and take a break with your friends. I usually bring a blanket or tapestry to sit on while watching a set in the back of the audience or just to take some weight off my feet. I like to surround the tapestry or blanket with glow sticks when I’m seated to make a little party area and prevent folks from stepping on me when they walk by! If you ever become too cold, you may also use that blanket or tapestry!
7.) Couch That Inflates
Speaking of seating, if inflatable couches are permitted at the event, your best bet would be an inflatable sofa! They’re really easy to put up, quite comfy, and convenient to store. Certainly, lying on one of these magnificent inflatable sofas during the Okeechobee Music Festival was some of the nicest sleep I’ve ever had. Not only can you get inexpensive ones on Amazon, but festival merchants also occasionally offer them!
